Bojerts of Moerden - Elusive, Annoying, Dangerous

In Moerden, the best place to find a bojert is in the Darjugan River Canyon, where they are present in large numbers. They are also found in the forests of Moerden, but in lesser numbers, likely because there are more predators outside the canyon. Their only enemies in parts of the canyon outside the range of jeong, are carnivorous plants, and dragons, who only eat bojerts when they can find nothing else. This suggests that they don’t taste very good.
Despite the relative safety of the canyon, bojerts are furtive and easily scared off, hastily retreating to their burrows at the base of the cliff. If you visited the canyon, it’s unlikely you would see a bojert, but you’d be aware of their presence because of the movement of vegetation as they race away from you. Sitting still in one place for too long; however, will attract a pack of them, especially if they are hungry.
Bojerts are about the size of a large rabbit, and look like a cross between a scrawny raccoon and a rat. Their eyes are large and they have good night vision. They have striped fur in shades of brown: vertical stripes on the face, horizontal stripes on the body, and rings around a bushy tail. These stripes, and the dark fur, provide camouflage, helping them to blend in with plant stems and shadows in dense thickets. Thus, where you see one bojert, there are likely more; you just don’t see them.
Bojerts are omnivores. They scavenge dead animals and also hunt for live food, and will even attack a human if they think they can win. They eat plant material, both living and dead, and will even eat non-food items that they find lying about. For example, in Follow the Shadows, a pair of sneakers lost in the canyon were reduced to nothing but the rubber soles by bojerts.
